In lesson 2 we read about the importance of a church having a Biblical Theology. I shared some additional insights at the Bible Study on Wednesday night. The rise of the "modern approach" to theology has done much damage to the church. If we are to stay a healthy church we need to ward off the enemy known as "Liberal Theology."

Lesson 1- Expositional Preaching
On Wednesday evening we are studying the book, "Nine Marks of a Healthy Church" by Mark Dever. We covered Lesson 1 yesterday. For those of you unable to make it I have provided a link to the message and a link to a blog post by John Piper about preaching.
Expostional preaching is foundational for a church ministry. Expostional preaching is when the text controls the preacher and not the preacher controlling the text. To faithfully preach expositionally the preacher's message must come from the text of Scripture and apply the main point to contemporary culture. In order for the pastor to preach effectively he must have the message preached to him first by the Holy Spirit and this only happens when the man of God prepares to preach expositionally. Listen to this message and read the blog post by Piper and I pray they will be a great blessing to you.
